Oh, How Times Have Changed

When I started collecting in the 1990s, deals were done with a handshake. I don't think I ever ran into a collector who was doing it to make money or to flip a jersey. The collectors were in it for the love of the game, the friendships made and the stories to tell. Today, collecting has become a risk. Too many broken promises, scam deals, auction houses and hard sell negotiations to get a jersey at a bargain basement price, just to flip it and make a buck. The jerseys in my collection mean something to me. At some point I will start to sell, but I will be picky when finding buyers. I know I can't bring back the old days, but I can certainly limit my collector friends to those that I know and trust.
